A Horrible Day

One beautiful day,
In the middle of July,
An awful thing happened,
I'm telling you no lie.

I was watching four younger kids;
All were very good
Until I forgot to do something
that I knew I really should.

The candle lighted on the desk,
I forgot all about it
Till I smelled the awful odor
That the house began to emit.

The smoke billowing from the window
Was my second clue
That something wasn't right
Especially when it was blue.

Well, me and the kids ran inside
And put that fire out
But,I noticed something else
That made me scream and shout.

Someone left a box out
And not just any old box
I swear I didn't do it,
I don't even like pop-rocks

Well, the fire on it caught
And oh, the flames did pour
And soon the rocks started popping
And went straight through the floor

My house we couldn't keep it
And for a good price it sold
And the now my land has a name!
It's called "Faithful" but I's not OLD!

So, the moral of this story
I think should be crystal clear
Never babysit younger kids
And have pop-rocks near!

Author notes

I actually did babysit today, I had to watch four younger kids and yes, we did have candles going

Wonderful job, Chelsea! I'm glad that the poem isn't true, but it did create a very humorous story. Very creative indeed, sis Thanks for sharing
