Tragedy

Sometimes I can't help but Cry
when a tragedy appears
But it's not all for what we lost
But our greatness that calms our fears

If you want America Strong
Then kick her in the dirt
Then set back and watch
watch us sooth each others hurt

If we only gave one tenth
of what we give when times are bad
No one would every need
no one would need be sad

And my tears would be tears of joy
our greatness would be abound
The glory of America
Would finally, have been found

Author notes

I am never prouder of my fellow americans then when tragedy happens and every one pulls together.  I get a little choked up at times watching so many helping people.

    A Challenge Met.

I love your upbeat tone here - If you want America Strong
Then kick her in the dirt - Just what a fighter would say!

    i love this poem!
    the lines:

"if we only gave one tenth
of what we give when times are bad
    No one would ever need
no one would ever be sad"

is so simple in their words yet
    so profound in truth.
a wonderful poem written from an honest heart.

This is amazing. I truly love reading your work. It is funny because...and I know I have written this to you before. My family is very military and it is funny because the things my grandpa and dad, and even the women say are so truly related to how real people feel. They say you get a different point of view being a soldier or living near them. I think this is funny because doens't my grandma always say "How soon America forgets" and it is true. When bad things happen we all pull together, however on the flip side, give it a couple years and people lose sight of what we were fighting for in the first place. I think this is a refreshing piece, and you are an incredible poet. Please keep writing because I WILL keep reading. Thank You

    God Bless

    excellent

Charlie this is wonderful, so true, but one thing I have come to realize no matter how we treat each other in America we are a people with a big heart. When crisis come we pull together to get those affected through, just like you said imagine what we could accomplish if we all gave that much more, tears of joy instead of tears of sorrow, wonderful write,
