Though you were not my perfect match
To have and to hold,
In sickness and in health,
As long as we both shall live,
You were the man for me
For the past five months.
Though I gave you my heart,
To have it returned
With another piece missing,
I don't regret one day
That I was yours.
You knew how I felt
By looking deeply into my eyes,
(And I even let you look).
You knew what I was thinking,
Without me saying a word.
You honestly believed that I was beautiful,
On the outside,
And taught me how to see that too.
Though you've decided it's over,
I am so thankful that it ever began.

Great write. This was so sad. Full of pain and hope. I really enjoyed reading this. I especially loved the ending but the whole thing was amazing. I definitely know how you feel. I dated my best friend for a little while, and when we broke up I felt the same way. Hope everything works out for you. *hugs*

I love reading poetry like this, even though something that has caused you pain has happened, you still remain hopeful & grateful for what has happened in your past. I think this is a really beautiful & heartfelt write. Thank you for sharing. *Sonya*

Wow, beauitful, sad but you can really feel the love within. It's hard to love and get your heart torn but it's better to love than to have never loved at all. Great piece, bravo!

This is such a beautiful piece! it's so sweet and admirable. Normally people around me complain about the ones they loved who'd just broken up with them. They get sad and depressed and then they regret that they dated just because the feeling. It makes me sad to hear that people who were in love, and said to their partner, "I love you," --It makes me sad to hear them say they regret dating him/her. Honestly, I think you are the first or second I've heard/read saying that you do not regret...and that makes me happy
Thank you for writing this. I would like to add it to my favorites and list and because I love it so much, I applaud.

Sweet, and sad. I am glad to see that you do not regret this time, as I can relate. My child's father was never wrong to me, but I was not for him really, and though the heartache was almost more than I could bear, it taught me alot about acceptance and love. Had it not been for him helping me grow emotionally I would not be the wonderful mother that I am to his daughter today. I do not regret one moment.
