there's an open cabinet door
it seems to have been left a jar
and a quiet hum
that is heard closer, rather than a far
baskets that are half empty
and false trees that aren't quite real
looking out the window today
I still know that I can feel

A lot said in a short amount of words. Poetry at its finest. I love the dual irony in this line "and false trees that aren't quite real." I love how everything in this piece seems distant, yet there at your fingertips--and then the last line summarizes how you feel...making everything else make sense and fall into place. Good write.

beautiful piece....Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me kind of.....sad?

Thanks for your comment and applause. It was something that I felt very strongly that day.. I'm glad it came off in the poem.

This poem is very interesting, I like the way you present details in such a way... The atmosphere really draws me in. It's short and sure says much.
