Dear Lord, bless this half-empty plate...
The Doctor says I must lose weight!
But I am a reluctant slimmer,
With every meal the task seems grimmer!
Lord, keep me faithful to my diet
- And keep my gastric juices quiet!

That was cute.
Thank you for entering. -
Every dieter's prayer
This should be said at the beginning of every weight watcher's meeting, and other groups, too. Great use of rhyme and self effacing humor anyone with some extra pounds can relate to. -
very amusing. but in a way you are mocking the ppl who suffer is not of their own choice, thanks for the amusement
-
-
I am NOT mocking anyone... For me the best way to cope with physical suffering is to find something in it to laugh at - or at least to laugh at the necessary therapies. I have, for example a sequence of poems laughing at the various stages of cancer therapy... which my doctors asked to copy and circulate among other patients.

lol, it;s refreshing to read this after all the eating disorder entries I've had. There are sensible dieters out there, and I feel sorry for them! it must be so boring.
Anyhoo, nice poem, it has made a nice. entertaining change!
Good luck and thanks for entering,
Sunny

Congratulations on winning the gold trophy for this delightful poem. There are many times that I could have used this prayer! Well done!

Congratulations on winning the gold. A very clever poem. Good luck with that growling stomach. ~ Sue
-
Congrats on winning the gold. Your prayer is absolutely the tops. I think I memorize it.
-
That last line right there is probably the funniest thing I've gotten in this contest so far.
Gastric juices...
Thanks for entering again

very funny... yes, I agree this contest is a fun one. We have a wooden cube that my daughter made with six short and pithy blessings in (German) verse glued around that can be tossed like a die at mealtime. Perhaps I'll have to make up a new one with a few of these in ENGLISH.
-
I also like this one, great stuff! Another really unique idea! Best of luck in the contest also for this entry!
