Many things annoy me-
about the way people view Australia,
they think-
Kangaroo live in their backyards,
They wear REALLY strange hats,
Eat 'Meat Pies'
And they go around, having barbeques and
calling each other mate.
G'day mate,
How's your cobber?
Going well?
Goodo, you know-
the little lady down the at the milk bar
yeah, she said that she'd meet up with
us down at the pub...
So when people come,
around to Australia
expecting to see -
all the kangas, hats and stuff
their faces shhow enormous suprise...
so the Sterotypical-Laid back-
Kangaroo jumping-hats wearing-meatpie
eating- Aussies that support this face
Aren't Aussies at all...
Author notes
i was annoyed...
which inspired me
so i honestly can say that if you doont t\like this,
then you'd have to be an Australian to understand compltely..

lol! good write! people expect kangaroos living in our backyards and we walk around with the whole "g'day mate, nice to see ya, wanna have a barbie, invite a couple of sheila's and we can all have a VB and watch the footy, dont forget the meet pie you bloody critter!"
i swear i end up playing with a story saying how i had an confrontation with one of the meanest kangaroos.. lmao! and people believe it
.. shows how much us aussies are stereotyped.. but hey, all nationalities are stereotyped in some way or another.
great write, i truly enjoyed this.

Very descriptive and I must say that I liked the imagery that you used (gustatory, tactile, visual, auditory). Great job. The imagery contained in this really lovely style of writing was so refreshing. I like the pattern of the stanzas. I think you did an outstanding job on this poem. Another magnificent poem to your collection. thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work. Best of wishes to you. good luck in all that you do....peace always in all ways.

Well one thing that IS a proven stereotype about aussies is...*drum roll* VEGEMITE! I bet you have some in your pocket right now! haahaa. I'm only teasing. My friend lived in northern austrialia for a few years and for some reason everyone thinks the language of what she refers to as "The bush" represents the whole country. I'm american, granted, I'm not the most wordly person in the universe (though I've traveled outside the country before >.>) but I've talked to Austrailians before and they're all really nice and can string together sentences with the best of them!
I should write a poem about how people view americans. They think everyone wears cowboy hats, is christian, and loves George Bush, and is ignorant to what happens outside of the US. And in some places that's true, like Texas...but I'm from freakin New Jersey. Bit of a difference I think but yeah aussie or american people have preconceptions and are mean stupid people about it. Don't let it get you down. Appluaded.

Sorry I'm not Australian, I just understand stereotyping I'm an American...I'm a minority and I'm a fourteen year old girl. I just hope you don't think everyone thinks that way of Australia because we all don't think of
Kangaroo live in their backyards,
They wear REALLY strange hats,
Eat 'Meat Pies'
And they go around, having barbeques and
calling each other mate.
Lets just say to the millions of idiots there are millions of people exercise their brains 40 percent of the time. -
hmmm... I think that we (the US) are a mojr part of this... see a lot of people (and even me, sometimes) poking a little fun at other countries and eventually turnign it into a stereotype. I'm sorry about the whole Aussies steroetype... bet it gets old. (oh well... your soccer team is good

Oh I get ya Devon. I get ya loud and clear. You know what, I feel exactly the same way. I hate everyone who seems to think that all Australians seem to be unintelligent and uneducated bogans. *growls* Yes....it's very, very annoying!! I've had quite a few guys from America who seem to think we're all like that sterotypical Aussie. I'm not saying all Americans are like that, but a lot of the guys I've met from the USA think this way. People from England and such seem to handle that issue better. They know not to constantly say "G'day Mate!" It's probably because they have a similar problem with being called poms and all. Anyways, this poem is pretty thought provoking. Well done.
