So This is What it's All About

All the screaming
fighting
    broken promises
        cursing, name calling, and tears

All the late night phone calls
falsified "I love you too's"
    many unwanted make ups

And one ruined birthday.

Was this really what I thought love was?


Breaking through this, God helped show me something;

You.

You have always
been right in front of me
Was I just too blind,
too ignorant
To open my eyes and see?


Last night as we laid under the cloud filled sky
wishing we could gaze up at the stars
I thought back on how you had always been there

You were always there to listen after a fight
To help me laugh when I was on the verge of tears
To comfort me when I was sobbing
I turned to you

As we laid there, I smiled, thinking to myself,
"So this is what it's all about."

    Lez, have I told you how HAPPY i am for you? If anyone deserves someone to genuinely make them happy, it's you. So, congrats. Someone (male) finally realized how wonderful you are and how much you're worth. I love you, baby.

    Yeah, I don't know. Some very good poems have been featured on this site so, you're in some heavy company. This poem is very simple in design and leaves the reader feeling like he or she has just watched a beer commercial. You know what it was about almost before it started and just hammered home the message. Fight, sadness, delusion (god) love. Nice poem, but a bit predictable.

    Awesome piece, smooth flow with good composition of lines. This is a piece I can relate to, as I feel I know exactly what you are meaning and i've been there before. In fact I just got out of the bad, and finally realized the good. Great job.

    Adorable I like the smooth flow of the poem and how it ends on an uplifting note. This is the type of "love gone wrong" poetry I really like to see. Forget that jerk and move on with your life. You go!!!
