Mr. Later

I can't be Mr. Right Now
But I can be Mr. Later
I can't promise you love
And then make you a waiter

Regradless of the nights
That you spend in my dreams
Regradless of the feeling
and how strong they seem

I can be your friend
And with words your cater
but the times not right
our love must bloom much later

Author notes

I come with a warning,  I will be in Iraq until at least jun 2007, and maybe even longer.  I want love I need love but I can have love right now because it is not fair to make a women wait.  Especially for a man she has never touched.

this is written with such a tender and truthful heart it is refeshing to read from a man's perspective. You give so much of yourself; it will be returned 10 fold when you least expect it.
Keep the faith; hope in your heart and what you so honestly write about; you have just created for yourself.
I wish you much happiness in all that you desire.
A moving and eloquently written poem.

    Awesome

I really liked this piece. Also, I hope you have a safe return home. I am in reality young, but in my high school I am watching many of my friends join our military. My family themselves are very military oriented and I highly respect what our men and women, people like you, do everyday overseas. I hope you find what you are looking for, remember in due time.
    God Bless...

P.S.- Great Write! I really liked it. It was inspirational and true...

Mary it is different to wait for a man that you fell in love with before he left, then wait for a man that you have only meet on these endless pages of rhyme. I know I desever love like any othe man, Hell maybe I'll find it with a women here though the odds are against me (100.1) Male to female. But I won't ask a women to fall in love with me and wait for me. But I will take all the friends I can get. And yes you are one of them, Your safer then most at least your married. Man that would tear me up breaking up a happy marriage. When I divorced my wife for having a internet relationship.

A year, in the big scheme of things, is nothing...maybe just about the right length of time to form a solid friendship though, and if you find love, I hope she waits for you.

Good luck in Iraq, and even more luck on the woman front! sj

Your poem is beautiful, and does show the pain all go through. Whether its fair or not, if the woman makes the choice to wait, then you know you've got someone worth holding onto.

I hope you come home safely and uninjured. I know my family is always thinking of you and your fellow men over there right now. Hopefully things will be resolved soon and all men can come home. God bless.
