Silver glints upon her cheeks
in the darkness of her world
No one notices the ache in her heart,
and no one seems to care
Her dying heart hold secrets
That turns her lonely soul cold.
Each passing moment continues to steal
More of the life in her eyes.
Her flesh is reaped with ghastly scars,
her heart frozen within the depths of winter;
beaten down by the frost of doubt,
and self hatred eating at her sanity
All hope has left her pallid skin,
No dreams fill up her dwindling mind,
No heart of love or actions of care
Can heal the wounds inflicted upon her.
Memories tearing through her mind's eye
are enough to rip her frail remains apart
The screams echo through her mind;
laughter still fresh, twisted faces vivid
Each thought becomes distorted
And her strength relinquishes from her,
Her form fading into the distance
As she’s lost inside her sickened mind.
Festering wounds burn her to the core,
and her soul is left vulnerable
Her own screams fill the ebony night,
her tears falling silently; a tell tale sign
But still no one chances a glance
To help a long forgotten and broken heart.
Her night is her silent enemy
That ruptures her body, rendering her silent.
Filthy hands tear at her within her living nightmare,
leaving her lost within the wretchedness of their words
She cannot will her eyes to open, nor her heart to mend
She is trapped within her personal hell; bended to others' will
A slave to their suggestive hands
And words filled with insults and lies,
She absorbs each sound and each caress
That she longs to rid of, but she cannot escape.
Her mind becomes their favorite toy,
and their words twist around her beliefs mercilessly,
distorting them into ugliness she had once not known
She sees a delusion in the mirror of her soul
Her self-hate and torment keep on rising,
Firing up into a fiery rage
That can no longer simmer as it grows
With each moment the touches stay.
Her own rage cages the small blossom inside herself;
the one entity left pure within her poisoned heart
Their marionette does well to follow their unspoken rules,
and they can only laugh while she is drowned by her own misery
But still there is that life that can be free
And all it needs is a helping hand
But she’s still left in her blackened depression,
The shadows seeping in deeper and deeper.
The black has evaded light, blinding her to its path
Her eyes hold the exhaustion of her inner core
while she relentlessly tears into herself savagely,
savoring each moment she can punish herself for her misdeeds
The scars show her self-infliction,
With lifeblood painted upon her nails,
And streams of crimson patterns line her skin
Bleeding out her many imperfections.
And yet still, she can never be satisfied
Her worth has dwindled to naught, it must have
Why else would everyone ignore her silent cries?
The stains at her feet will never purge her of her filth
So she dwells in her fatal sorrows
And drowns in her crystalline tears,
Drained off all life that ever touched her eyes,
Filling what’s left with broken dreams.
Her world comes crashing down around her,
and she shivers at the prospect of forever living this way
She yearns for love and trust; loyalty and respect
All she has gotten in return is the torment of abandonment
And it keeps going around in circles,
A slight glimmer of false hope shines
And she falls into its groping hands
Only to be beaten and abandoned once more.
Over and over, her mind is played, her heart tied on strings
until she is too terrified to ever let another inside
She traps herself within her imprisonment of silver chains,
just as her puppeteers had directed her, killing herself slowly
Sometimes she doesn't see herself dying,
Blinded to the fact she’s losing her mind.
Her only thoughts are on all hope that’s lost
And the hands that seek to hold her tight.
She does not see her bonds for what they truly are
She believes they are a way to protect her from harm,
when all these bonds are doing are strangling her slowly,
leaving her no air to breathe in, and no strength to fight
Her ebony thoughts are on the brink of death,
each choking breath goes unseen,
her eyes show only the reflection of hollowness
that will never be filled for eternity.
She does not see that she could be bathed in light
She only sees the darkness swallowing her whole
As long as this delusion has a hold of her,
she may never be able to save her soul
Her spirit drifts, her soul gradually fades
And the cage has been locked, the key has been thrown.
Tormented forever in the abyss of her mind,
She’s been taken up and will be forever alone.
Such is the wish of those who have aimed to harm
She in nothing in their eyes after being disarmed
Buried deep is that light that shines from her heart
No one could ever deserve to be torn apart
Not like she was

I had a feeling you would enjoy this one, bro. I'm glad to have been right about that.
-
Aw, yeah, it is, eh? Glad to still see you around, doll.

Well I guess this is one that would make a list of my favorite poems of all time, which would indeed be a small list. It was a long epic that at times I can't imagine being put together by two people. It all just mended together so well. Sorry about our's but it may never be finished hehe.
It has also been ages since I last picked out a stanza that particularly stood out for me, and this time I managed to find one. I thought the 3rd one was absolutely flawless, I loved reading that line over and over after completing the poem.
The use of the background and image as a whole really blends everything together to create more of an impact with this piece. It really will stand out in my mind for awhile so I'm glad you sent a link. Great job you two, I absolutely love this one, and I don't use that word very often....

Oh damn, this relly strikes a chord or two. I can relate to this so vividly. Something I wish I never had to fce, nor wish for anyone else to ever have to feel. This writing was full of imagery and sadness. Excellent write the two of you have collaborated. Amazingly real, and yet so very painful.
Thanks for entering and good luck
Storm
