Bright yellow tresses sunflower scented
flowing in the wind and gleaming in the sun.
Long summer dresses and tawny skin
pure radiance shone from within.
Summer romance, my first love
golden memories that to this day remain fresh on my mind.
Precious as twenty-four carat your heart I held
soft to the touch you bended to my will.
Fickle free, shame on me
I tried to shape you into something not meant to be.
A valuable lesson I have learned in your absence
our love was pure gold.

Thank you for the lovely coment. Coming from a wordsmith of your merit, that means a great deal. This was a very inspiring contest idea that evoked some wonderful, yet bittersweet, memories for me. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your contest.

Eva this is a lovely poem, even though it turns out to be full of regrets but then who doesn't have regrets over their first love...super images and serenely penned...it made me sigh a lot as I read...
thank you...
