To awaken in the morning
and take in my first breath
I’m thankful for the blessing
to have life instead of death
The chance to start anew
A beginning instead of end
An opportunity to make a difference
another person to befriend
Giving freely without expections
Leaves no guilty residue
Accepting without judgment
Cleanses the soul of impurities too
Appreciating those who cross
my path from either direction
Whatever race, creed or religion
Embracing ALL imperfections
Wanting others to reap success
in what they dream to achieve
Wishing them well, sincerely
Telling them, "In you... I do believe"
Not ever judging by the cover
and taking a moment to look inside
Seeing beyond the visible words
Lies the truth that tries to hide
Forgiving those who did me wrong
builds the strength to set me free
Releasing the butterfly into the skies
towards my peaceful sanctuary

This was a truly beautiful and tiouching poem, the picture compliments perfectly, the colour of the writing just right. I found the flow was perfect too, but for the fourth stanza, the third line makes that one stanza awkward, this poem really touched my heart, and i wish you the very best of luck in the contest. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, lovely lovely!! This is so full of melody, beauty, charm, grace and all things good. Excellent flow, word choice, meter and rhyme! I truly enjoyed this poem. I loved every stanza here but the last one truly hit home with me. Very well penned.
