Thank You

I can't say what I need to
There's no one here but me
I don't have anything to give
Except these words of mine

Thank you for being everything that you are
For being my guide in the darkness
My breath, my life
Thank you for being you

I had no dreams till I met you
Your eyes showed me new light
I promise, I am what you see
I am nothing else

Thank you for being you
For being my hope within the pain
My heart, my one
Thank you

You carried me through the hardest times
You held me up when I fell
You allowed me to lean
You set me free
But I don't have anything to give
Just these words

Thank you for being everything that you are
For giving me those things most precious
Your heart, your love
Thank you for being you

For the one I used to love. Written after we broke up. I tried to show my appreciation and stuff, and it was accepted. But now, it's invalid. The person in question no longer wants me around, which hurt me at the time, but now I don't care. Cos he turned out to be nothing like what he said he was.

Showing appreciation for the one you love in poem form is very romantic and touching. It's clear you love them for being themselves around you. I can relate to the new feelings of hope you felt. Very sweet, and I'm sure this person appreciates your poem and your love. Good luck to you in the contest, and with your love!

Before I say anything else, this poem inspired me, it was simple, yet touching. I loved it. But in the second stanza I think, you said "Till I met you" I think if you used the word Until, it would sound alot better. I read this like 20 times, and a few times i put it in, and with or without a change this poem is still great, but just my advice. Great write.

It's a tender note of gratitude to someone very important. And it's very nice. When you say all I have to give is "just" these words, you are underestimating what a powerful and romantic a poem can be as a gift or token of love, appreciation, or commendation. I had a boyfriend who used to send me poetry and I was touched...so touched...So, please, give your writing it's due.
    Blessings, ~Ricci Croix~
