Chapter 2
She closed her eyes and dismissed all thoughts that did not contain finals. She had to study, she had to pass. If she failed this...she'd fail the 9th grade. She let out a long sigh and slowly walked back to her bed. She opened her book and pulled out all of her notes. "Have to concentrate," she said to herself over and over. Flopping down on her bed she put the book on her lap. " OK, this is no big thing...Just write and read...just like school. Nothing new. No surprises," she reassured herself. She stared at the book for what seemed like hours. But no matter how long or how hard she tried...her mind was else where. She set the book down and stood up. She walked over to her mirror and looked at her self. "I don't understand it," she whispered. " I am beautiful, yet at the same point I am so ugly. Why would any guy in his right mind want to like me??" She turned around and walked over to her closet and after a while choose an outfit. She got dressed and put her hair up in a pony tail. Slowly, she walked over to the door and paused to hear if her parents were still at it. "Finally!" she thought and slowly turned the door knob. She opened the door quietly and slipped down the stairs. She stopped at the bottom and glanced around for anyone. Kelsey was still in the living room, but the TV was turned off. She was playing with her dolls in the corner. HER corner. It was built into a house for her, but when Kelsey decided she wanted it to be hers, her parents made it Kelsey's. It had the works. The kitchen had a stove and a fridge. It had a table with 4 chairs and it even had a little place for the nursery for the baby dolls. It was Dani's quiet place. Her own place to call her own. Like everything else, that to was taken away. She turned around and glanced into the kitchen, and saw her mother sitting at the table crying. "Oh great." She thought and started into the kitchen. " Good Morning Mother!" She said as if nothing was wrong. " If this is what you call a good morning, Dani, then I would hate to see a bad one. You better hurry up and get ready for school or you'll be late again." She replied. With that she stood up and walked out leaving a paper on the table. Of course Dani knew it was wrong to read but she couldn't resist. She walked over to the table and sat down. She picked up the paper and began to read. ' Dear Mr.+Mrs. Richardson. I am writing to you in regard to your daughters audition. Her singing is amazing. There are no words that I could begin to describe her talent. Her audition was taped and was sent to the BraunBerry Vocal Arts Academy. There it was view by BraunBerry best of professors. And the top ten were chosen. Dani has been selected and if you can pay the fee of $400 to cover the cost of transportation, Dani will participate in the show and also be given a chance to fly to Florida as a final contestant. Please reply as soon as you have the money. Best of wishes. Professor Charles Wilson.' So this is what is was all about. But why would her mother be mad about her having an audition?? She set the paper back down and stood up...I have to get to the bottom of this...I just have to. Just as she turned to walk out of the kitchen the phone rang. " Hello? This is the Richardson's."
" Hi. Umm, is Dani there?" "This is Dani..." She said confused about who would call her. She wasn't very popular or anything in school, so it was rare to get a phone call. " Hi Dani! This is Landon....."

Ooh, very good. Real dialouge, very believable. I like this Dani girl (great name, by the way). I think she is a sensitive and observant young lady and seems thoughtful, if not a little pissed off at the moment. Very good, very good. I wonder who this Landon is. And why is her mom so upset over this note? I'm in suspense.
