Red Red Rose

^                                Red velvet
                              are your sweet        petals
delicate ever for my heart to sway.
                                Fragrance to follow your tempting
bouquet wafting                through the breeze          she
unveils.      Love divine spoken    by every poet. The        rose is
perfect    or so    they wrote it. Can      another smell      capture her
perfume  or    silken    fabric we prepare    or groom?          Nature only
has the  recipe.  She    allows us to breed      each      spring.  Sometimes
we          can    fool        with grafting    but        she’s always    a true
love to me.  The  red        color      of  blood    from which comes
life, fades  not  easily when      cut with a    knife. Florists
deliveries melt a        woman’s heart.    The love from
who sent      them she        won’t depart. So pure    and rich when
touched by      the      dew with prickly thorns    upon your long
stem. As a            ruby coveted like a gem      fascinate us with
your perfect view.      A queen amongst    those in the garden
she offers not others    a pardon.        Her royalty never
will falter even when            we would try to alter.  My
Red Red Rose        will you not tarry            and fill
my heart clear up to              the brim? A
love like ours is                more than a
                                                    whim from                      the man you
                                                                                            betrothed
                                                                                            to marry.

I think you made it to the finalists list just because you have the talent to make your poem entitled Red Red Rose into the shape of a rose...it's amazing. I didn't like the poem too much....it didn't captivate me, but the shape is amazing!!

    Thanks for entering!

    congrts on the gold!!

i must say though that while I admire the poem's format it is very distracting while reading and makes it hard to concentrate on what's been written.

    best,
