Me, Bobby and a Cry Baby

Me and Bobby McGee
drivin’ our Mercedes Benz
we seen a woman left lonely
buried alive in the blues
sittin’ under the half moon
we stopped and took a seat
said, “hey there!  move over!
get outta your slump, woman
no need to be a cry baby!
through her sobbing tears
she cried, “but my baby left me!”
we gave her with some advice
to not waste her tears on that man
‘cause all you do is plug along
and get it while you can
I told her she could trust me
I knew what I was talkin’ about
I seen a big grin through all her tears
and she just started to laugh
she said, “you’re such fools, both of you!
crazy, insane, bastards, leave me
alone with my pain!”
well, there now!  she was laughin’!
the rest of the night we all hung out
talkin’ about life and such things
and I tell you she’s over him now
Yup, that’s just how it happened

CountryCousin, thanks for reading and commenting! All of the words in bold are Janis Joplin songs from one of her albums. It was a contest I entered where you had to use all of the titles from that album to create the poem. Thanks, again, for visiting. Write on! Kimberly G.

    Written well.

Actaully this is a pretty good piece on the way life is and I liked the reference to the old Janis Joplin song too.

Thanks! I actually wrote it for a contest where ms-cuddles has taken the titles of the songs from her favorite CDs and asked us to write a poem using those titles, so that's where the references come in, as they are all the titles of those songs! She gave 6 lists, I found inspiration in 4 of them so far, then had to stop myself, I was engrossed in it! Thanks, again, for reading and commenting, Catsparrow! - Kimberly G.

I liked it. I especially liked all of the references to Janis Joplin songs. I liked the line about "being buried alive in the blues"
