My Nana's Teddy

Nana’s teddy

On my windowsill
Looking after me
Sits a piece of my Nana
Inside this precious teddy
It’s far from young
yet still looks new
With his straight posture
and bow so blue.
If you pass the tear stains
That I have cried
You’ll see this unique teddy
With my Nana’s soul inside
With it’s golden hair
And gleaming eyes
To this teddy
I speak no lies
I pour my heart out
To this heavenly bear
All my secrets
With him I share
The moment our gaze meet
His eyes glisten
When I need help
He’s there to listen
He always gives advice
Even though he donesnt talk
He always seems to be near
Even though he cannot walk
His small paws
Hold me tight
Ever since my Nana
Drifted out of sight
When she died
She left me this gift
When I gazed at him
My frown did lift
When I talk to him
I’m talking to her
Up in heaven
Or down earth as a blur
When I hold him
I’m holding her to
I know it seems impossible
But it feels so true
When I cradle him
I feel so warm
As if he is my sunshine
Whenever there is a storm
And my Nana is the shelter
Watching over me
From the sky
And in the eyes of this teddy
He is my protection
And my best friend
He’s the greatest gift
An angel could send
I’ve held him close
Throughout the years
What kept me going
Is knowing he’s hers
To this day
He’s still by my side
And somewhere around me
My Nana does hide

Author notes

To you it might be an old, scruffy little stuffed toy.
To me it's a special gift from a special person, and it's also my best friend.

I like this...a lot I know how special gifts like this are. I have all my gram's jewelery and her little fruit magnets that once sat on her fridge. To some people it might be nothing, but to me, it's everything. This was such a beautiful and heartfelt poem about your angel and your gift. Thank you for sharing it with me and good luck

I know the all too familiar loss and its always a wondrous honour to have received a gift of the teddy bear as it was probably a comfort to her when she was younger and the Angel may be had taken care of her when she was younger as well from the friend or family that had passed with them knowing it would eternally become a wondrous comfort to you. and may had been a guardian to her as well as yourself. many blessings always xxx
