a poet dances, each revolution
caught in the arms of the midnight moon;
nature’s child, relaying echoes
of whispering notes
abandoned by the setting sun.
yet, as a swan in eddying currents,
she breathes hope into autumn leaves
that share their sounds
with a passing stranger.
lingering, I sigh,
unbound by the beauty…
then silken wings fold over a crystal fountain
and alight on a misty moment;
held softly in their silent embrace
I am caressed in a murmuring dream.
petals rest
on the dusty dismay of my memories
sweeping away weary sighs
and deciphering the mirage of my soul.
in the deep of the night
when love may stumble,
exhausted from the storm,
I regain strength in her gentle glow
on the whispering doorsteps of time.

yes, someone said he didn't understand it up there in the comments... well, I have tinkered with it since, but the meaning hasn't changed... so there you are, echoing nature, giving hope in autumn, and reading you- the wings, murmuring, caressing... sweeping away sighs, deciphering... and always whispering...! (except when encountering those teenage boys from outerspace!)

This is quite lovely, Wayne...Thank you for your warm welcome into the Winklings, Poet...I so enjoy it when you do this sort of penning, using lines or titles from the poems of the Poet you're honoring...I know it must take a lot of time & effort to go through so many, my Friend...I appreciate your generousity of Spirit, Poet...Thank you very much for this tribute/welcome...

absolutely stunning
How strange that I just this minute commented on a poem by the wonderful Night Hope, our beloved Wanda.
"Those who have compared our life to a dream were right.... We sleeping wake, and waking sleep." ~Michel de Montaigne, Essays, 1580
This poem is so beautifully written, it almost brings tears
to my eyes. I recognize my own style here and applaud the poem and the author. And such a gorgeous tribute to a fine lady poet. Lovely, absolutely lovely.
