a group of huts

great glaciers
scraping granite

molding it
like clay

leaving behind
a group of huts

and flocks of crows

a land so vast
multitudes melt into it
like glacial waters
into stony vales
of spruce wood

Author notes

The name Canada is said to come from a Native American word meaning "a group of huts " or "a village".

You seem to be able to use word economy very well in your writing to create simple, yet effective images. I wonder how this would read if the first three sections were made active -

    great glaciers
    scrape granite

    mold it
    like clay

    leave behind
    a group of huts

I think the short lines add to the piece and its simplistic beauty.

    Merci.
