Could Have--
I could have sat with you til morning.
I could have sat with you til dawn-
Just sitting with you speaking
Dreams and whisper-singing songs.
I could have waited for the music
To beat within my heart-
And then I'd take you in my arms
And we'd dance and never stop.
I could have told you that I loved you,
With words I've never used before
I could have thrown away my stupid pride,
And fought your wish to go.
I could have followed when you left me,
But I stood still in my spot...
And now all I am left with
Are the could haves in my heart
