Dreaming of What Dreams May Come

I close my eyes, fall asleep
Praying for the dreams I keep

Seconds pass, and here it starts
These dreams I hold close to heart

I see a field, lush and green
Peaceful feelings, so serene

I hear the water rush the river
And want to stay here now, forever

Then there you are, you take my hand
The feelings here, I understand

Your voice so gentle, speaks to me
In here, our souls sore high and free

I feel your lips press soft to mine
No care of place, not even time

And arms wrap 'round my body tight
Hold me close all through the night

I smell your scent intoxicate
And pray this dream is my fate

I lay within your loving arms
As you protect me from all life's harms

You whisper soft into my ear
Consoling all my pains and fear

Then look deep into my eyes
Find love so pure, without disguise

We count the stars within the black
And journey on, no turning back

We sing unto the moon's bright beams
A prayer, a wish, within our dreams

The birds of night sing their song
I profess my heart, to you so strong

But know that soon the sun will rise
And with the morning, comes open eyes

I'll wait again till darkness falls
This dream once more, beckons, calls

It's the place I wish to always go
For love in here, we both shall know

    this part was great:

"I close my eyes, fall asleep
Praying for the dreams I keep"

everyone can relate to that, waitng to fall asleep so you can dream what in real life you cannot have.... the idea is depressing, that dreaming is that precious but you write it in a way that doesn't portray sadness. the poem is not too heavy and almost a little upbeat. great job.
