Blossom's Beauty

Deep within the ebony shrouds
of the silver linked chains
and the golden crafted bars,
there is a small blossom

There is a beauty so profound,
it is shielded by the dark
and choked by the hands gripping
her frail stem in pure hatred

She does not see that this
is what she truly is inside
She only sees what those have said;
the ones who wish to destroy her

Slowly, the blossom wilts
as her nourishment is quenched cruelly
by those who have condemned her to darkness
Her own keeper turns in disgust

She does not understand
the importance of this blossom
She is convinced she must be rid of it
to stop the torture outside; her shell cracks

Yet, this little blossom is so strong,
she does not give up the fight of eternity
She will not give in to the snickers and sneers
She puts them from her mind and wills herself to grow

From this, there is compassion and love
There are tears of pain and joy
There is loneliness, and such loving care,
but near death has made her frail

The gripping hands tighten slowly,
causing hatred to consume her trusted keeper
Nothing be lovelessness for self enters her heart,
and this weak flower is not strong enough to fight it

There are those who have tried,
but she cannot accept such a weakness,
even though she realizes she is not perfect
She cannot allow herself to lean on others

The blossom inside can only influence
her keeper to give, and to love others now
because she has failed to grow out of the cage
that binds her within, shrinking her; killing her

There is only one other who sees this blossom; perhaps more
But she sees this girl inside, and she will not give up
She has tried to nourish this blossom, for she sees the truth
It lights her friend's soul with a lavender aura, shrouded

She has seen this girl give herself, and encourage others
She has seen her love so unconditionally, she dies inside when hurt once
She has seen the blossom influence her keeper to be a sweet friend,
and the most loyal of caring people; one who does not destroy to gain

She has seen fear, and love, but so very much hatred,
and she wants to fix it somehow, to make her see herself
But only her friend can allow her to do that, even though
she will never allow the girl to push her away like the rest

That is a solemn vow she will keep, to honor the beauty she does not see
It is a vow she will honor 'til the day she dies; for the blossom
Because nothing is more beautiful than one who sacrifices so fully
And this girl does, asking for nothing in return; she is beautiful
