Past

I sat here then and thought of times
of a brighter hour and place,
I tried to forget my woes
While the rain swirled 'round my face.

The world was dark in those times
ere I found my path,
I had no power to fight the ways
of my enemy's evil wrath.

But alas! A shining steed broke through!
His rider clad in gold,
I had known him in the past,
Once, in days of old.

He dismounted off his valiant steed,
Drew his sword, and then, said he...
"This time away from you I can not bear,
When you next open your eyes,
I will be there."

And now, as I awake from this sleepless dream,
I look into those eyes so keen,
to learn to love,
to forget the past,
The darkness has left my face at last.
