I see an iris in a field from my small ground of decay
She is surrounded be bleeding hearts that always seem to take
I see this sweet iris wilting slowly as her life starts to fade
I will my roots to reach out to her so she can hear me say,
"Out of this entire field, you are most beautiful here.
Please don't shrink away like that, you have nothing to fear.
These bleeding hearts always take, and they do not give back.
I can't imagine how hard it must be to always be treated like that."
My veins shape a heart around her weakening form,
and I sacrifice what little water I have like she had before
My ground was merciless, and has no nourishment, yet I gave it away,
and I hoped that it would make her see that she met a true friend that day
"I will not take from you what you cannot afford to give.
I would never suck you dry in order for me to live.
I am in need of a companion on my rotted, lonely ground.
Will you join me over here as a friend newly found?"
"I promise I will do my best to help you on your way.
I will never purposely hurt you, but love you day by day.
All I ask in return is that you don't push me from you.
You love to give, but so do I, and you need support too."
The little iris gained her vibrant color, and I thought I saw her smile
She took my roots within her chipped leaves, and said she'd stay awhile
I smiled in return and promised to be there, so she would never regret
her choice to join me in my world, for sweet moments she'd not forget
I saw this iris' worth that day, and she has grown beautiful once more
I can only hope that I can help her stay that way, and not die like before

Wouldn't use the picture I fixed up for you if it wasn't for you.

Aww! So sweet! Thank you Rose for your lovely poems...I hope I haven't got this wrong. I hope it is about me or I'll be totally embarrassed and humiliated.
