So delightful
Pastime we all can share
Smelling in that rich aroma
Tasting that delicious full flavoured brew
At our favourite new hangout
With some cappuccino
Flavoured lattes
Coffee
Author notes
We hang out at the Little Haven Emporium, a coffee specialty place that sells all kinds of flavoured coffee, teas and delicious noon time meals and baking. Also has gifts and art for sale. Held an open mic here one night where I read for the first time my poetry in front of others - what a feeling to hear that clapping and to know people enjoyed what I had written. Hope we do it here again. I'm a retired teacher and journalist who still subs, loves writing poetry and my grandkids, not necessarily in that order, and travelling. Also love flavoured coffees.

I will have to remove because I was only accepting poems written in 2008. Sorry.

Well not being a fan of coffee, this one is making me smile thinking of people who are consumed by their neccessity for their daily brew, well penned here
Thank you for taking the time to enter this contest, I wish you the best of luck

Did you read them this? I was in a coffee place recently (that's unusual for me, I try and avoid them) and there was a poetry reading on. The poetry wasn't great but still, at least they were trying. It felt very odd though. The majority of people weren't paying any attention. There was businessmen logged in at laptops, people having conversation extremely loud, people in the corner playing chess.
I understand that people come to the coffee shop for their own reasons and may not be interested in hearing someone's mediocre poetry but I found the situation all a little awkward. They people reading were offering little pieces of their soul out to these complete strangers and the strangers had no interest in it.

I like this and especially your author bio which adds dimension to the poem. I will be happy to include this in the coffee anthology. Please IM me with your real name and town or at least province, and be sure to leave the poem in the contest until I annouce the release of the book. This will ensure that I can easily access the poem and reach you with details later on. Thank you.

Ahhh, this is beautiful! Delicious rictameter with great word choice, awesome imagery, use of the sense of smell, sight and touch, and beautiful flow and magic in it. I like Vanilla bean and Coffee Mocha both at Second cup. Really enjoyed your comments.
