Mud bricks.

Emotionally stable I would seem a brick wall.
But I am not.
I am a mud wall;
the rain may cause me to fall.
I can't have you near me then.

The barbed wire...
really just ivy leaves.
I painted them gray,
to keep you away...
Yet here you stand at my door.

Please, go away.
I don't like you so close.
I don't wish to ignore you;
but I cannot restore you.
The fact that you asked annoys me.

Author notes

I have this friend that seems to think I have ever listening ears. It's kind of exhausting.

    it is understandable that it's exhausting to have someone always spilling their problems out on you. there's just two.. maybe three things you can do about it though. one is.. to listen and be there for that person. you don't have to always give advice or anything. most people just want someone they can vent on.. and that means this friend of yours trusts you. sometimes trust doesn't come so easily. another thing you could do is to not listen. but that wouldn't make you a friend.. and friends can be hard to come by. (good friends, at least)
    the third thing you could do is just tell them that.. yes.. you do like to be there for them and listen, but you can't always do it or be the only one that they vent on because.. like you said, it's kind of exhausting.

    anyway..

    the poem was written perfectly.. and it seemed like there was some more meaning to it than just what you said about it being written because of your friend. seems like it goes deeper than that. all in all.. a great write.. keep it up and post some more. you got a fan.
