Censored

Is it censorship
when only one side of a story is told
or when a paper
expresses only their views

Is it censorship
when facts are ignored
or when the paper
prints their lies as fact

Is it censorship
when deserving men aren't praised
or when the papers
take good men's name in vein

It is censorship
but it something they won't stop
because they are the papers
the liberal press with all there rights

Author notes

Ok got abit carried away with this one.  It always kills me that when a front page story is found to be false the apology is found on page 41.  When facts contrary to the beliefs of a paper are discoved the story is found on page 35 with out a title.

    excellent

Very thought provoking, even when someone writes the truth in a diplomatic way without pointing fingers, the press has to add what they think will sell the story to make it their own version while they seek sefl satisfaction. In my current job I see alot of things that go on behind the seens in my own community and when I read an article about certain events or situations in the local paper so much is left out or twisted is truly amazes me. These are about things that people really need to know to be educated about the choices they have as citizens of this country. sorry I got going again started out with a little thought and got carried away, like I said this is a very thought provoking piece.

The reality of censorship is at the discretion of those in an authoritative position. It is their vantage point that depicts what should and/or should not be written or viewed. You are on point in what you've said in your author's comments.

I am a child of the Vietnam era. In those times reporters were on the front lines shooting footage. WE actually looked to see if we could see my big brother every night on the local news. No CNN back then. He told us the news of war-protests and civil rights movement footage was kept from them. As well I think it should have been.

There are occasions when I believe censorship must exist. I don't think it is feasible to allow some one to be allowed to print how to create a plutonium bomb on the Internet or using a scare tactic like "the water is poisioned"... Personally on allpoetry site I think that there should be very few restrictions except for child-pornography and threats to life. I believe people have a right to muse about prejudices, hatred, even nation bashing or disagreements with political agendas. Personally I'd rather know than not know what people truly feel.

Sorry for the rambling but your poem in its ability to provoke thought brought it out. Good work on the home front with your pen, and over seas for the liberties we so take for granted as Americans...

My prayers are with you cowboy-soldier. Excellent musing!

    Much Love,
    Renee

I hope you don't get to digging to much on this site my friend.. I have screamed cried and ranted and raved at what some on here consider "censorship"..
The sad thing is most of them are Americans with no real clue as to what their freedom is. I thought about this after I left you a im.. You ever heard of Mike Teague? I grew up with him...

He was a great guy who didn't deserve what life handed him. Life bites ass. I know to many who have died in Iraq actually 35 Men of a personal Nature and more that were casual friends.

I wish you safety, a clear head and solid footing my friend.
