Patriot

Patriotic

When I see the eagle fly
My pride builds up inside
When I saw Old Glory
I welled up and cried

I’m just a patriotic man
Who is American
I gladly serve my country
I’m not the kind who ran

I’ll never hide behind the words
That other people say
And when there’s a battle raging
I will fight the day

Author notes

to the great men and women who serve in the Armed Forces, Thank You.  And to those civilians that serve beside them here and on the home front.

God Bless You!!!! I am proud to be an American too. I fully support our troops and the other troops that are serving in Iraq now. Both of my grandfathers were in the Army during WWII. One was in Normandy and the other in Japan.....This poem makes me swell with pride for the red, white, and blue. Just a beautiful write, that is what this is.

Wow. I must say that this poem brought tears to my eyes. Just recently a good friend of my boyfriends had died while fighting in Iraq. His brother watched him get killed. I couldn't imagine the pain his brother felt, just standing there in awe, with the hurt and pain built up inside. I love my boyfriend dearly and I would never wanna see anything happen to him, which is why I've encouraged him greatly to stear away from the armed forces, I mean it would mean a great deal to me if he were to fight for his loved ones and his country, but I'd prefer him to be home safe. Again, you wrote an AMAZING piece right here and you are greatly appreciated by all the citizens of the U.S for fighting! Thank you so much! Great piece, keep up the good work!
