Who am I?
I am the person left over
At the end of a disco.
I am the person no-one
Wants to listen to.
I am the person with no
Real, true friends.
I am the person that no-one
Can appreciate.
I am me.
Do I have to be?
Author notes

dear faded view,
indeed, I join ingrid in encouraging you to continue writing what is on your soul. and wanted to tell you how happy I am that you have entered the contest with your beautiful poem. for such a young lady like you, it is very unusual to be able to express herself in so few words that go directly to the point. this is a very touching write, dear one, and it makes me want to tell you "I like you exactly as you are, because you are so unique and so lovable".
and I would like to give you a big hug, too. here you are :
you know what, I must admit to you now, that I have felt exactly the same way, when I was about your age (I'm old now ...). nobody asked me to dance in the disco, although my mum always said that I was pretty and lovely. I just didn't believe her. plus, I had absolutely
real friends, can you imagine ? and, when I opened my mouth to say something really important and profound which touched my soul, I realized that people were looking away, thinking about something else at the same time or replying : "oh, you are just too sensitive, have fun, and take things easy."
isn't it a bit similar to what you feel, dear ?
and, although I don't go to discos anymore, I still feel the same way, not fitting into groups, "normal" society ... because of who I am.
and you know what, this is absolutely perfect the way it is !
it pushes us to be authentic and profound, and not to renounce your inner values in order to please others or with the desire of being "appropriate", or "like everybody else".
I am certain that there is somebody who feels exactly like you, and can understand and appreciate you perfectly the way you are. nothing has to be changed, my friend. you are most precious the way you are.
much love,

Dear faded view,
when I read your age at your home-page I was amazed about your tremendous talent to perceive and describe with very few lines what you feel. I hope, you will continue writing.
I will listen to you.
Thank you very much for your beautifull poem.
With best wishes
Ingrid

Awww, I feel depressed too today, actually since yesterday, so I can feel your pain and tears and I wish for you to cheer up. All the best,
