The Three Lions

Thunderous cheers roll through the stands
Roaring fans chant and clap their hands
The music rumbles for a glorious game
As the three lions enter – no longer tame

Adrenaline rushing in great anticipation
The team are there to represent our nation
Pounding hearts as the whistle is blown
England know “football’s coming home”

St George’s flags are flying proud
Celebration time for the England crowd
We’re five – nil up and it isn’t over yet
As our opposing team don’t cause a threat

The ‘06 World Cup has finally arrived
After 40 years, England has still survived
Move aside world, our patience is wearing thin
England are back, and the three lions will win!

Author notes

I'm with my home team England to the end! This poem is inspired by some well known football songs, you may know them.
In case anyone is mistaken, this poem is only a bit of fun and even though obviously I am supporting England, no offense is meant by this poem.
