knowing myself

Who am I, well let me see
I will look at myself phillosophically
I am the person who thinks far too much
Who tries to understand thoughts and fears as such

I am ironic, cynical, sceptial too
A watcher of life from a different view
I seek wisdom, knowledge and a need to know
Trying to find life and where it will go

Berated, castigated often in doubt
What do I know, the answer is nought
Put life into perspective if you can for me please
For once you have done that, my mind maybe will ease

The hopes, the fears the pessimistic views
Maybe one day will be optimistic news
Until that day happens I know I will err
On the side of caution of that I am sure

I am the person whom I see everday
From the beginning genetically made this way
Not a person to rush in and believe in myself
But the love I have inside me is certainly my wealth

So despite all the misgivings that I have got
A genuinly nasty person, is one that I m not
I try my hardest to be peoples friend
This I will strive to do right till the end

    dear jm,
thank you so much for having written such a sweet poem for the contest. it is so beautiful and melodious, quite jolly and happy, you seem to take life from the chocolate side, accepting its ups and downs and accepting not to know anything, this sounds like a very childlike heart to me ... actually, your poem makes me happy ... it must be the happiness inside you which resonates with mine
and, indeed very wise words you speak, when you say:
But the love I have inside me is certainly my wealth
you are indeed a very wealthy being, dear.
    a really wonderful poem,
the best of luck to you in the contest,

    marion

Here here Julie, you have got it spot on about mummy jackie. You sure do have a heart of gold and as for seeking wisdom, you already have bucket loads! As for knowing nought, well I strongly disagree with that too!

You are a fantastic person and I wish you were my real Mummy!

    Love you xxx

You missed out you lose keys in bushes and lose cars and also have a warped sense of humour !!!
And you also forgot to say you are a lady with a heart of gold, a beautiful person with so much to give, far to hard on yourself and are capable to achieve anything you set your heart too, you are also a brillant mother and a fantastic friend who listens to everyone elses problems and deals with them even if you feel terrible yourself.
    Love you always hun xxx
