Tamagotchi Lament

Missing image

My little digital friend is dead,
the only smile in my dreary life;
I used to feed it before going to bed,
made sure it was happy before outing the lights...

  Now it is buried, lonely and scared
I’m sure, in the virtual pet cemetery;
bereaved, I go visit it there,
clinging to happy memories we shared...

Yes, shared, for I believe it was actually alive- though just a small battery and circuits inside...

for isn’t that just what I am?

    Haha! I love it! I'll tell you, if it didn't die while I was sleeping it did while sitting in my school locker!

    Well, sweet, you were about the right age for toma... tamo... (just a sec, got to scroll up to see how it's spelled again!) tamagotchi's! Don't tell me you never had one... that would be a deprived childhood!

    Oh, more than a tad sardonic! Quite right, great write, all due respect and laud! I really enjoy your forms these days. Maybe you did this intense graphic work before I came around - I have no idea. But lately I've seen quite a bit (Grass, the cherry tree poem, this one) and I do love it. It's a shame that only the Gold Members enjoy this freedom of expression; but then, I guess that is what we pay for. I have seen these little toys in the hands of teenagers - and I am amazed at the attention the kids pay to them. Gives me hope that we'll have fewer abused children in the future. Well, thank you as usual for your wonderful reading party - hosted in the most lovely ambience! Best, Toni

    walking their own real-life babies now... I wonder if, deep down in the depths of their subconscious, their care for their very first tamagotchi has resurfaced...

    A delightful bit of memory. I bought all my kids those digital babies, because we could not have pets. Oh, didn't they take them seriously. they fed them when they needed to be fed, kept them quiet when they were resting, and walked the floor with them when they sent out the digital message that they were cranky. Lord, you know, I can't even remember what those digital things were called now, it has been so many years and the kids are all walking their own real life babies.

    This was a cute little poem enhanced by the images most definately, I love Tamagotchis! They're so cute! Aherm anyway like I was saying, This was a cute refreshing piece, the last two poems I read were little goth cutter poems and I needed some light refreshment, thus provided. The first well.. stanza? box? hehe, was my favourite for the simplistic rhyme which had an edge of mourning to it which was cute. Me wonders has one thought about pressing the little button at the back? Lol you know.. the one that reincarnates the tamagotchi! It could be a phoenix! Sorry getting excited, I want a tamagotchi now!
