the positive things
the way you made love to my body soul and mind
as the days of summer
drift through June and closer to July
i can't help to remember the love we shared
one last special time
there is no one that will ever take the place of you
they can't meet up to my standards
they can't do what you do
and even though with me you might be through
my heart beats for you
my love remains true
i can't dwell on the past
or hate myself because it did not last
i won't look for who to blame
hearts don't always beat the same
love at first sight
we didn't make love until the second night
i have never felt so right
and although it wasn't too long
before we started to fight
to my darkness you brought light
i don't think you wanted to fall for me
but i would risk my life to make you see
that you and i
were meant to be
we were one and the same
i never intended to play those games
sometimes someone just comes along
to touch your life and heart
i never thought loving you was wrong
because i knew it from the start
in your arms is where i belong
and the story of us is more bittersweet
than any other love song
i have been changed
my whole way of thinking and feeling
rearranged
things will never be the same
you made such an impact that it's strange
i will never be that girl again
the one you knew when we first became friends
i knew from the beginning
that I'd better enjoy it because
it would come to an end
i'd give anything just to do it all over again
hot desert summer breeze
intoxicating memories
i beg you one last time to see
please open your heart back up to me
for you i will sacrifice anything
i promise you I'll never leave
to me you are everything
you brought life to a soul that had died
truth into each one of my lies
laughter to heal me when i would cry
i lost myself in you
and found myself in your eyes
you breathed life into me
so i would not die
i thought i knew what love was
but you showed me i knew nothing
the power of what your love can bring
my soul is awakened and my heart sings
i thought i knew love
then i found myself in you
the power
of what your love
has made it possible to do

Aww, a great comparison that is both simplistic and original. I have to say that the last stanza truly brought the piece to a close even if it is a little long for my taste. At times the rhyming is a little forced but this does not interupt the flow and rhythm. well done, great work

Loved it once again! Love sometimes ends too soon for us, which I think makes it grow even greater and stronger. An untimely death of love just seems to magnify it even more in our minds. I really liked it

For me? I am glad you have found inspiration in my poems...you can't really dwell on the past..all that does is keep you from your future...holds you back from the person you should be. Keep writing...and SMILE!
