Now I hear about the gay laws the governments passing around
“How gay marriage is disgusting and it brings the world down”
Now understand I'm not gay, but here's my perspective
This world has polluted love and made it deceptive
Government saying “love and marriage is for men and women remember
Its not for same gender”
Love is just love, yeah that’s all it is
It doesn’t matter gay or straight; it’s not your business
To tell someone its wrong, to love the ones they do
What are you jealous that they don’t love you
How can you stereotype love to gender
That’s tearing out the human heart and bouncing it in a blender
This country is all about the freedom, the freedom to choose
So why would you take someone’s freedom to love
It doesn’t matter what law you make, when you fight against love you lose
If you think its wrong then ok, no one said you had to be
But gay or straight they’re humans too, so treat them with respectively
ITS ABOUT LOVE NOT GENDER!!!!!!!!!!
Author notes

First let me say that your poem was good, your made you viewpoint very clear. YOur structure and flow are good also, now having said that I totally is disagree with everything that you said here. I am not saying people can't love whom they choose, what I am saying that that just because you are a gay person does not give you the right to push your agenda off on others. We are a civilized society, there are laws and there are values and morals that need to be considered. A lot of the people in this country (USA) also believe in God. I know that they may not be a popular thing with several individuals on this site, however 86% of the USA claim to believe in God. And the Bible does state that homosexuality is wrong.
Here are some translation in the Bible:
Some translations of Leviticus 18:22:
ESV: (English Standard Version): "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is abomination."
KJV: (King James Version): "Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination".
LB: (Living Bible): "Homosexuality is absolutely forbidden, for it is an enormous sin"
Net Bible: "You must not have sexual intercourse with a male as one has sexual intercourse with a woman; it is a detestable act." 1
NIV: (New International Version) "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."
NLT: (New Living Translation): "Do not practice homosexuality; it is a detestable sin.
RSV: (Revised Standard Version): "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination .
Here is explicitly what the Bible teach about homosexuality?
The Apostle Paul, writing by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, declares that homosexuality "shall not inherit the kingdom of God" (I Corinthians 6:9; 10). Now Paul does not single out the homosexual as a special offender. He includes fornicators, idolators, adulterers, thieves, covetous persons, drunkards, revilers and extortioners. And then he adds the comment that some of the Christians at Corinth had been delivered from these very practices: "And such were some of you: But ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God" (I Corinthians 6:11). All of the sins mentioned in this passage are condemned by God, but just as there was hope in Christ for the Corinthians, so is there hope for all of us.
Homosexuality is an illicit lust forbidden by God. He said to His people Israel, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination" (Leviticus 18:22). "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them" (Leviticus 20:13). In these passages homosexuality is condemned as a prime example of sin, a sexual perversion. The Christian can neither alter God's viewpoint nor depart from it.
In the Bible sodomy is a synonym for homosexuality. God spoke plainly on the matter when He said, "There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel" (Deuteronomy 23:17). The whore and the sodomite are in the same category. A sodomite was not an inhabitant of Sodom nor a descendant of an inhabitant of Sodom, but a man who had given himself to homosexuality, the perverted and unnatural vice for which Sodom was known. Let us look at the passages in question:
But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house around, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. (Genesis 19:4-8)
The Hebrew word for "know" in verse 5 is ya„da`, a sexual term. It is used frequently to denote sexual intercourse (Genesis 4:1, 17, 25; Matthew 1:24, 25). The message in the context of Genesis 19 is clear. Lot pled with the men to "do not so wickedly." Homosexuality is wickedness and must be recognized as such else there is no hope for the homosexual who is asking for help to be extricated from his perverted way of life.
I think this makes a very clear viewpoint of what a Christian believes when he is a follower of Jesus Christ.
Now that does not mean that they are to hate the person in that life style, just the opposite, Christians are commanded to love one another as Christ loves them. So we are to embrass them and not make them feel like they are bad. At the same time there has to be that balance were we embrace the person but not the act that the person is doing.
Example: If you child lies to you, the child is punished, but you don't hate your child! You continue to love your child and try to help them undestand that the act of lying is wrong, but I still love you even though I have to punish you for the wrong thing that you did.
The punishment that one practicing homosexual behavior receives can be on many different levels, they may feel like an outcast, they may feel that their families don't except them. I know that maybe true in some families but it should not be true in Christian family. Because it does not show the love commanded of us.
I think that a alot of gay individuals believe because the Christian does not support the act of homosexuality that they don't except them. We embrace you but we CAN NOT embrass the behavior.
I think I have expressed enough here and I know that I will be attacked for my viewpoint by several individuals here on this site. But please to all who read this: before attacking or commenting please note that I have tried very hard to express that I do not hate anyone. And I am NOT attacking anyone, however I am expressing my viewpoint as a Christian and as I believe the Bible has instructed me to do. Melody

BRAVO!!!! You are SO right! Love is from the heart, which is blind!! It recognizes kindness, goodness, compassion, all that we look for in someone. The heart knows what it needs. The vessel the love is contained in DOES NOT MATTER! And yeah! It is nobody's business!!!! Probably is jealousy, and if they would stop and look at themselves, they may see if they fixed what was wrong with them, they could know love too!! Great write. I so agree.

i agree. they are basing this law strictly on a man+woman= marriage, which is a religious belief, not a legal reason. it is all so wrong! don't even get me started... it just makes me so mad, so mad. like DOMA? drives me up the wall; a gay couple can get married, but it doesn't mean anything in any other state. hmph.
anyways, your poem was well written. it explained your point of veiw with a nice gentle rhyme. good job.

i completely agree with this. you made a great point. it is about love and not gender, you can't help who you fall in love with and it shouldn't be anyone else's business. i too have gay friends. their people are they not so why shouldn't they be treated as so? great job!
