The Goodnight Kiss

As I touch her velvet skin
with my calisted hands
I can see the goosebumps form
I pull her close
and kiss her again and again
First one lip then the next
a cheek, a chin, a nose

my lips do the talking
what they say I do not know
My hands caress her back
my fingers run down each arm
I kiss her ears and neck
my hands move very slow

I take a gasp for air
a sweet fragrance I do smell
take a breath more like a sigh

I lean her back
And kiss her again
taking in the beauty that I see
I look into those eyes
I can see her longing
pull her up for one last kiss
I just say goodnight
As I step down from her steps
I hope I see her soon
For another good night Kiss

Ron (Lyndon) asked me to help with the judging. I very much enjoyed this poem and the sweet, sweet love of a goodnight kiss! It brought back so many lovely memories. I liked the subtle sensual tones of the love poem too. Nice work - good luck in the contest.

Now this is the old style of "goodnight" when girls went out, came home and then went to bed. I can assure all readers that in those long ago days parting was sweet sorrow! Why, I can remember "rationing" kisses with the girl who is now my wife!
Thank you for the sudden flood of memories. All readers, even now, would get to the end of your poem!
I wish you all the best in the contest and assure you that I shall return. Lyndon.
