A Different Call of the Wild

A different Call of the Wild (for Michael)

Where evergreens grow strong and straight
on the banks of a dark-water creek.
By moonlight pink as watered blood
 my lover waits for me.

His face is some lost chieftain's mask
 His eye's hold passion's fire.
His heart beats loud like ancient drums
and tells me of his desire.

He's told me of his far-off home
 among the evergreens.
And I have come, yes, I have come
cause he has called to me.
