The Souls Song

trees talk to the moon
walk arm in arm with the breeze
wave among the stars

branches leave notes in the air
sky and earth sing the souls song

Indeed a well written tanka...the natural imagery is lovely and enjoyable. I love this form...however I usually write them pertaining to life and situations rather than nature itself. I guess my instructor wrote them in that manner and I got away from writting the in the forms of nature...you have made me realize just how beautiful they are when writen on that subject.

I do wish you much luck in writing...you most certainly have talent.

This piece was full of imagery and flowed well. It was one of the most detailed tankas I have yet to lay eyes on. The form was represented wonderfully by your syllable count. Keep up the great work and good job in the contest!

This is so soothing. I did hear the swish of trees immediately, and the "S"es of the last line echo that sound beautifully. Best of luck in the contest.

Oh thank you, I am lonely living in the neon life of humanity. I must read now to feel alive. When once I only had to walk to be alive . I must now remember, I am blinded by the man-made sights.

Thank you my teacher. I am happy to read your thoughts. I wonder with fear at humanities cruelty. I talk to the trees and they listen, calming me. May soft breezes let you hear, Annie

A very soothing Tanka and so calm on the mind as one reads it. You have captured the moments so well - the trees walking arm in arm, yes branches leave notes, doesnt it sound like a song being sung to our soul, then why do we turn to nature for healing? I appreciate everything written on nature and this is marvellous. The alliteration in the last line makes this even beautiful. wonderful job Anne!

    Love and light,
    Lencio
