You held My hands as I learned how to walk,
And after I could behind me you would stalk.
Afraid I might loose balance and fall,
But letting me go to learn to stand tall.
You held my hands as I crossed the street,
Afraid of the strangers that I might meet.
Eventually letting me go to cross them on my own,
Knowing you had helped teach me my way home.
You held my hands and stood next to me so proud,
Of the grand daughter you taught to stand her ground.
The one who has your kindness and your strong will,
And inside of her eyes she sees you there still.
I sat and held your hand as you gracefully slipped away,
I knew that with me you couldn't possibly stay.
Now your in heaven and will be smiling down,
Your beautiful face never showing pain or a frown..

Loved this write - and the picture that goes with it says it all, the love you had for your grandma and the love you now still have for her in your heart. Wonderful memories of her to cherish forever. Sentiments well expressed in these lines, so easy to read and understand. How lucky you were to know her so well and how lucky she was to have you there at the end. Well written poem.
