Raging Winds

There is that rose that once held on so tightly to what is hers
when the frigid winds would scream down upon her frail form
to make her quiver in submission and hand over what was hers
Her thorns let loose a raging whirlpool of violent loathing
She would never give up the one thing she had a right to,
even though the ice seized her form and stilled its movement,
she stood defiantly within the shrieks, never falling back
She has not fully escaped the desolate snow within the north,
but she is free to have what is her own, despite the season's change

She knows how it feels to want to flee, to rage, and to lose,
but she also knows that we are all eventually set free

You did a great job on this one...Your use of the Rose as one's self when reading made it have an incredible impact on the reader...The meaning is loud and clear but not overdone...Great work!
