The new black on the horizon is one where we stand side by side;
one we will fight together upon the graveyard we've been caged in
And when I find light, I will show it to you, and hopefully heal
what aches have been left upon your scarred, withering heart
Hopefully then, I will have accomplished more than understanding,
and I can truly say I have done something grand during my lifetime
You may not have known this, but I live to please, to help, and be needed
As long as I know my words and empathy are appreciated, I am content
You are the second to fall upon me in a torrent of darkness
Like I have helped the very other half of my soul,
I will help you as best as I can

I really like the form you chose, Rose, and the flow of it is flawless and...and...and........I'm trying to think of different words here.
Oh! The last line really stands out because it is shorter than the rest and...this poem really shows how beautiful and what a wonderful person you are, just like your poetry
