Oh Past of mine, do you feel the cold
unhuman metal stratching at your throat?
Your time has come, for you are weak
And I am here to take your life.
For far too long you held me back
for far too long you guided me
for far too long you have controlled
who I was meant to be
The scars are real, the pain is deep
Oh past of mine, I chose that path
I walked those steps, I paid the price
And in return you shaped, you molded
you consumed.
But now we reach the denouement
The resolution drawing near
Oh past of mine, draw your final breath
you shall no longer define.
Author notes
got the thoughts down, not sure I have them the way I want them - i'm just sick of letting what I did in my past control who I am now. It's been a long journey, but it's time to close this book for good.

very nice! I enjoyed this one...in a strange way it sort of reminds me of that scene with Rafiki from The Lion King, where Simba finally faces his past and decides to learn from it instead of hiding from it. I like that scene, though it's really not too relevant. :-P
great poem though! :-) it's a very thought-provoking idea.
