The Key

In all my years there’s one thing I’ve learned
You need a key to open a door
If you haven’t a key the door’s not for you
Don’t break it down or you will be doomed

A door is a pathway, a route sign, a signpost
This way for that and that way for this
Or simply no entry, this way’s not for you
Don’t go this way or you will be doomed

As I grew wiser I saw more doors
All of them choices for I had freewill
Keys too I noticed were many different things
Not meant for conventional locks or doors
So many variations your mind can stray
Not wanting to be doomed I have collected some keys
To help me travel down this roadway of life
Doing some good and giving some cheer

I know there are more doors to challenge me
I know I’ll be short of a key or two too
But I know the Locksmith and He is with me
I travel the road still and will not be doomed

When He closes a door I just don’t go through
When He opens a door I quickly pass through
When He says NO ENTRY I turn around but when
He invites me, I come in for I am not doomed

Wow, loved this. It's a great metaphor that I haven't quite thought of in this way before. Nice write, you kept it from being cliche and made it mean something to the reader. Awesome :-) Blessings!

    delightful keys plays here ^*^

This is deep yet opens quick to those that can see the road to paths to doors that shine with the light, may not be right to open doors sometimes but as you go along like you said you need less only those needed now for modern bliss as you keep your blinkers on and feel the rocky path feeling within does this feel like a home or house

    divinely contemplative

    Dearest Friend Mine

I fully agree. To live according to the Divine Will is easy and is a Key that always unlocks the correct door. Sometimes we think "our" choices are correct, and then they lead to closed doors without locks.
