An ember glows, warming a smile
played with a memory of long ago
when, in a creative surge, she came;
a moment when her first expressive thought
burst forth upon this world of mine…
Sculpted with needs unsuppressed
cresting waves beat on jagged shore
when touched, when shared with mind and soul
an encounter with passion, awakening distant
desires
in expressionless eyes and vacant heart…
The ember lingers deep, the glow
keeping warm the promises...

Really awesome, wbiro! I read a lot of your poetry and you simply never fail to amaze me with your range of expression. I am hopelessly devoted to free verse (yet I cheat and write rhymes of my own) - and I dearly love to see this kind of marriage between the total freedom of free verse and the structured meter of form poetry. It's truly lovely. Thank you for bringing this poem to us. Best - Toni

What a beautiful write, it echoes what my muse was playing with this morning, interesting that alot of my favs were playing with fire today.
Lovely, and softly haunting.
