a birthday cake just for you
with 16 candles and a picture of me and you
i open your presents and smile as many pictures are taken
i remembered when we we were little and you would help me blow out my candles and you tore the paper right off my new toys
you told me you were helping, so i just smiled
i remembered when you told me you hated me for steeling you lipstick when you were 13
i cried for hours until you said sorry
but most of all i remembered the day you went away and never came back
you left me with fear, alone in this world
now, i cry for the days i wasn't with you and the days we will never have together
today, i remember every birthday you celebrated and every card you ever gave me
i remember the good and the bad
the things you told me and the things we did together
i will never forget you
you will always remain in my heart
today i give this cake to you, in rememberance
to remember the life you lived, the one you made for yourself and for me
you gave everything to me and all i have to remember you is this pink birthday cake with 16 candles and a picture of just us 2
