mabye it will stay for a while
to see my father happy face
so i know its not to late
can i have just one more hug
so i can feel your lasting love
to feel my fathers soothing heart
so that our souls will never part
can i have just one more day
to run about and have fun and play
to fall asleep in your arms
and have your heart beat as
my lullaby until once again
we say goodbye

Touching
This was really moving to read. It was just lovely that you wrote about your Dad with such fondness. So many poem I read on here are about young people hating their parents, due to abuse or simply lack of understanding.
This one really meant a lot to me though, as this was the kind of relationship I shared with my Dad, before I lost him when I was 10. I have a good understanding of what you're conveying here, and you've done it so well. Thankyou for sharing. All the best.
