Love letters fell behind the bureau
gathered dust, lay unopened, unread
until she moved the dresser.
She sat down on the floor
leaned back against the wall
read them one by one.
There was everything
he had felt and more
laid out before her...
She remembered the front porch
how rain had driven him in,
and they had lain in each others arms
On the swing, underneath the comforter
kisses turned passionate; the swing gently swayed.
How she'd inched down under the cover
Started something on the swing
they'd finished in the house.
...the strength in his arms as he'd carried her inside.
The gentleness of how
he lay her on the bed disappeared,
swallowed by their need.
Though she sensed his feelings,
he'd only hinted at them,
or so she'd thought until tonight.
Days when her strength wans,
and her faith fails
she will read them again.
She carried the letters out to the porch,
looked out into the night,
then up into an onyx sky.
Somewhere this same moon
shines on him, while in her mind
she thinks:
"No matter what you go through.
No matter where you walk.
No matter what you do or say.
My love will never stop"
Just so you know.

Beautiful poem. I like the premise of reading old love letters and letting them take you back to a memorable place in time. Well written, I enjoyed reading it.
