The climb

Plagues within this self controlled doubt
Avoiding my dreams desired and felt
But if, I climb higher
Who’s to soften my fall?
So I’ll keep my feet buried
So helplessly small
While I watch others
Their climbing steady and strong
Their dreams are accomplished
Their songs have been sung
Yet some are broken
Cut grazed and bruised
While others lay dying
Shunned, taunted and used
Should I take a chance?
And climb to the top
So vulnerable to falling
So painful the drop
Instead I’ll avoid the danger
Prevent tears that could be shed
So I’ll spend my time dreaming
About the life I’d of lead.
