Boom it seems so far away
Boom it starts to walk my way
Boom still closer this time
Boom it just another day
Should I hit the Bunker
Or stay here in my bed
Run out into an open field
Or let in find me here
Some mornings it does seem
I'm walking on broken glass
Not knowing what has happen
what may have come to pass
Should I be in a happy mood
should somber fill my day
Did I lose a friend
or is everyone ok
These are the chooses that are made
When mortars start to ring
What to do when mortars fly
It not a simple thing
Boom it starts to walk my way
Boom still closer this time
Boom it just another day
Should I hit the Bunker
Or stay here in my bed
Run out into an open field
Or let in find me here
Some mornings it does seem
I'm walking on broken glass
Not knowing what has happen
what may have come to pass
Should I be in a happy mood
should somber fill my day
Did I lose a friend
or is everyone ok
These are the chooses that are made
When mortars start to ring
What to do when mortars fly
It not a simple thing
Author notes
We do alot of walking on broken glass here in Iraq, this poem sorta changed in mid stream when an unknown to me control explosion happened in the middle of writing the poem. You never know how different people are effected by this booms that happen way to often.

this is quite the poem. I enjoy it. So many questions of what to do. I guess times are pretty frantic. Thank you for the entry.

Wow this was very moving and very emotional. A wonderful poem. It reminds me when my friend was over there. You stay safe. Take care, Sandy
