His Compassion

Missing image
I was drowning in alcohol,
guilt, shame and remorse filled my days,
then I was introduced to Christ,
with his glorious healing ways.

He plucked me from the mud and mire,
planted my feet on solid ground,
then took my tattered weary mind,
and replaced it with ones that's sound.

Thanks to his love, I'm not consumed,
by the trials of everyday life,
for his compassion has taught me,
better ways of dealing with strife.

Salvation from his mighty hand,
was given the moment I asked,
redemption thus has cleansed my soul,
in blessed assurance I bask.

I remember my affliction,
how the evil one stole my joy,
so now when he comes a knocking,
my Lords sword will quickly deploy.

He gets no foot inside my door,
his machinations I have learned
my Lord kicks him back down to hell
where forever he shall be burned!

I remember my affliction, my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. I well remember them and my soul is downcast within me. Yet this I call to mind, therefore I have hope. Because of the Lords great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail... they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, the Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him. The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him. It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

    You captured the heart and essence of the gospel not only that Jesus died to forgive us of sin but also to set us FREE from sin.

    Lol... thanks sister! That word is a big one indeed but everytime I ever heard it used, it was in reference to the evil one and his schemes!

    I am grateful for our friendship across the miles and love doing the contest with you... in fact I think we have another to judge real soon... I better get on the ball with that one! Got some reading to do yet! I think I'll post a word bank contest for us when this one is over...

    Frist off let me say how proud I am that you continue to walk a path of light
    Life is not with out stumbling blocks yet you continue to climb,
    We Can not change the past, but as you have so written we can learn to live again, And it is even better when we have the faith, I am so glad to have become quick over the mile friends with you, and I continue to enjoy my journey of contest and friendship with you.. Some deep from the soul penning,
    There is nothing more pure in writing then one that comes straight from the soul.
    and ps.. Lol I know what that big word machinations, I had to write a poem around the word Machinating.. lol..

    I am always amazed that the Lord saw fit to reach out to me-but He assures me in His Word, that Jesus came to save the lost-it's the sick that need a doctor, not the well. We share similiar testimonies and maybe that is why this poem touches my heart-b/c I understand when you say you felt "shame". Excellent write with a profound message~vj

    Exquisite Truth

    Oh, this is exquisite, daughter, and your verse choice is absolutely perfect. God is so incredibly good and faithful to those who love Him and His Christ. I also love your picture/verse choise, as well. Beautiful, beautiful sentiments. If it were not for God's grace and Christ's sacrifice, I'd be in a hole somewhere, likely not alive. This one should garner the gold, because it is perfect and delivers the perfect message for our Lord.
