Walker Between Worlds

Walker between worlds, He calls me,
As I gaze into His one blazing blue eye.
Like many, I have come to the Allfather,
Knowing here I will find my destiny, my fate.
Everyone else misunderstands me,
Ridicules me,
But He knows -- for He knows all --
Exactly what I go through.
The whispers around me grow louder,
Whispers of the voices of the others.
Exactly who those others are, I know not.
Ebbing and flowing,
Never ceasing,
Whispers enfold me, until I can see,
Or rather perceive, another
Reality, one of the dead, one of the
Living dead -- the walking wounded --
Death is calling out to me,
Saying, "Tell my tale."  So I do.

Author notes

About the experience of being a seidkona, a Norse shaman-priestess, and also about the experience of having a mental illness.  By the Allfather I am referring to Odin -- my patron God.

I will definitely check out those poems. You have intrigued me. Thank you. Sigrun

  • I love this! The personification of Death's apprentice mimicking your position in regard to your own views on your life is uncannily similar to my own way of writing! Check out my own poems dealing with similar subject matter: Narcissus Awakening- Written from the point of view of an individual in the state of awakening to the concept of God within the individual, or the concept of A god looking through a vessel's eyes, ultimately resulting in the permanent union of the two previous conceptual beings in to one indistinguishable persona within the former's vessel. A Deity Within Me- Written from the point of view of an outside observer identifying with the amalgamated creature from the poem Narcissus Awakening, while making social commentary on the probable outcomes of our collective future as a species, and of ways to manipulate said future through the use of identifying with the aforementioned creature. Thrive- Written from the point of view of an individual identifying with 'The All', teaching of a state of mind where you can manipulate physical reality with will alone.

I like this poem.. Odin thats original.. most poems like this refer to God and are so "cliche" but this is interesting.. this poem is very good in its own way..

This is a very good well intentioned poem. It's been a while since I've read something religious like this. You've got a wonderful way of writing and captivating your reader.

    Keep it up!

This is very interesting. I wasn't very fond of the write itself, but the message is, like I said, very intersting. Great job, Princess.

I'm not a religious person, persay, but I enjoy religious poetry. Especially this poem, because it comes from a religion I haven't explored and don't understand. You've intrigued me to learn more.
