unknown lovers

A girl and a boy
Best friends 'till the end
Helping each other
Through thick and through thin

Since before they remembered
They'd been there for each other
She was like his sister
He was like her brother

As years passed by
His feelings for her grew more
He was lovesick
And there was no cure

~Chorus~
He wished he could tell her
He wished that she knew
He wanted to know
If she loved him too
But he was afraid
Of what her feelings were
But he felt in his heart
She loved him for sure...

High school went by
Many breakups, much sorrow
But he always hoped
For a better tomorrow

Graduation came and went
And she moved away
But he would move with her
And together they'd stay

~Chorus~
He wished he could tell her
He wished that she knew
He wanted to know
If she loved him too
But he was afraid
Of what her feelings were
But he felt in his heart
She loved him for sure...

He was there at her wedding
When she said "I do"
But under his breath
He whispered "I still love you"

They were still best friends
He knew that's all they'd be
But he always wondered
"Did she ever love me?"

~Chorus~
He wished he could tell her
He wished that she knew
He wanted to know
If she loved him too
But he was afraid
Of what her feelings were
But he felt in his heart
She loved him for sure...

As he sat at her funeral
Tears fell from his eyes
He couldn't help but to think
He had been living a lie

As the funeral began
A diary passage was read
The only one she had chosen
He couldn't believe what she said:

"As every day passes
My feelings for him grow more
I am lovesick
And there isn't a cure
I wish I could tell him
I wish that he knew
And I want to know
If he loves me too
But I am afraid
Of what his feelings will be
Yet somewhere in my heart
I know he loves me..."

And as the final words were said
He couldn't help but to see
If he'd told her he loved her
How much happier he'd be

~Chorus~
He wished he could tell her
He wished that she knew
He wanted to know
If she loved him too
But he was afraid
Of what her feelings were
But he felt in his heart
She loved him for sure...

Oh, to love and not be loved back in the same way is so sad. Did you set this to music? It really sounds like it would be so bitter-sweet as lyrics. Very nice work.

    Creative and pure

Very beautiful, How very sad, life is too short, we should never be afraid to let someone know how much we love them. Unless they are married or engaged to someone else. Fate our destiny how do we chose, and why? Beautiful song made me sad, touched me emotionally. keep writing you are very talented and bright.

A beautiful piece you have written about a lesson in love. Why do we wait to say how we feel far too often than we should? It seems we are quick to tongue when we should not and never enough when we should. A lovely piece you have penned that tugs at the heart strings. Well Done!
